Occupational Therapy and Hand Rehabilitation: A Specialized and Human Approach

I graduated in Occupational Therapy in 2016 from the University of Milan. Fascinated by the complexity of the upper limb, I decided to specialize in this field, and in 2019 I earned a Master’s Degree in Hand Surgery and Rehabilitation at San Giuseppe Hospital – MultiMedica Group in Milan. I regularly attend training courses to stay up to date and refine my skills. I have deepened my expertise in areas such as custom splint fabrication, advanced scar management, pain management in rehabilitation, as well as dry needling techniques and NeuroTaping. I also obtained the CAS “Role of Clinical Tutor”, which allows me to mentor and train students during their university studies.

In April 2022, I opened the occupational therapy area within Centro Polispecialistico Paradiso, with the aim of creating a dedicated space for hand rehabilitation.

As a hand therapist, I work with both rehabilitative and preventive goals on:

  • Bone fractures
  • Tendon and nerve injuries
  • Tendonitis
  • Rheumatic diseases
  • Arthrosis and chronic degenerative diseases

A key part of my work consists of creating custom-made splints, designed to support functional recovery and precisely adapted to each person’s needs.

Hands: an extension of the brain

Working daily with the upper limb, I have gained a deep awareness: the hands are the highest physical expression of our brain. Through them we act, express ourselves, communicate, and create. Our hands allow us to engage with reality, connect with others, and cultivate passions. That is why it is essential to preserve their functionality and “restore them” when needed.

An integrated approach: geriatrics and neurology

Alongside my specialization in hand therapy, I have also continued to work and train in geriatrics and neurology, with a particular interest in patients with multiple sclerosis. I attended the course “EGE: Education in Energy Management for Patients with Fatigue,” which provided me with practical tools to better support people in daily life. This journey has allowed me to build a broad and transversal approach, always centered on the person and not just on the condition.

Occupational therapy: relationship, personalization, and humanity

In every session, I place the person at the center, listening, observing, and tailoring the treatment to their real needs and shared goals. I believe that the strength of occupational therapy lies precisely in its ability to care for the person as a whole, within a human relationship that makes each journey unique, meaningful, and deeply valuable.
