Infant Development in the first 12 months: motor milestones and growing skills!

In the first year, infants rapidly develop motor, sensory, and communication skills, with timing that varies from child to child. In the first months, head control improves and social smiles appear; between 3–6 months, rolling, grasping, and vocalizations increase. From 6–9 months, sitting, greater mobility, and cause-and-effect play emerge. Between 9–12 months, upright posture grows, first steps begin, and early daily-life independence develops.
